The included software makes it easy to use and has never caused any false starts. This scanner serves my needs for copying documents, creating.jpg images from pictures, slides or negatives, creating PDF documents and any other imaging requirements. Great product at a great price.Bruce Cole
Sometimes, for some reason, the scanner treats the slides as negatives. Other than that, it's been great. I use it mostly for converting 35mm slides to jpgs. You need to change the order of the slides in the holder to "fool" it back to the 35mm setting.
It also does a terrific job on my newer color photos. It is fast and easy and does an excellent job bringing my b/w family photos from the 1920s through 1950s back to life. I am using Windows XP Pro and had no problems with the software installation. I am extremely pleased with this scanner. I have scanned over 300 photos since I bought it a few weeks ago, and it has worked flawlessly. I was surprised by the quality for under $100.
The Canon CanoScan 4400F works very well for digitizing your old color transparency images. The device is limited to scanning up to four images at one time, but that is probably faster than some of the other slide scanner devices.
A great thing about this Canon model is that it didn't break the bank to own. I plan on scanning photos and slides in the future but have not done so yet. Amen This purchase falls in that category, "How did I ever live without it." Instead of running to the nearest copy machine, I can now scan these materials in my computer files for saving or to attach to e-mails in lieu of not having a fax capability. Thus far, I have scanned many letter-type pages as PDFs and the result has been excellent. What one would call an excellent value, i.e., it was a consumer reports best buy.
